I wandered lonely as a Cloud (Daffodils) Summary. The speaker was walking around through the hills and valleys, but he felt all lonely and mopey. Suddenly, as he passed a lake, he noticed a big group of yellow daffodils waving in the breeze. This wasn't just some scattered patch of daffodils. No other flower says spring like the daffodil. The pleasure of seeing a whole field of bright yellow trumpets, planted en masse, is a heart-warming and exhilarating experience. What better way to celebrate spring and the daffodil season than to visit Filoli in late February and March, to enjoy its flower fields, and learn about its exceptional collection of daffodils--both historic and modern.

Kingsbury lists the sources he mentioned in his text in the back of the book, but doesn’t list Old House Gardens, which if you are interested in heirloom daffodils, is a “must-see.” I have also gotten very special daffodils (but not heirloom) from Daffodils and More. Here’s two more books on daffodils. Along with daffodil’s symbolism, yellow daffodils (as all yellow flowers) make a nice gift to a coworker having a rough week or to show your appreciation for someone’s hard work. Give a bright bunch of yellow daffodils to your babysitter to show your appreciation for his/her care to your kids.

Series: National Geographic Special Publications Series. Like many concepts in the book world, "series" is a somewhat fluid and contested notion. A good rule of thumb is that series have a conventional name and are intentional creations, on the part of the author or publisher.

For now, avoid forcing the issue with mere "lists" of works. This book list of classic children’s books from the s includes a variety of genres. I’ve included realistic fiction, some historical fantasy, a bit of whimsy and more serious selections, even a more philosophical novel.

Narcissus poeticus (poet's daffodil, poet's narcissus, nargis, pheasant's eye, findern flower, and pinkster lily) was one of the first daffodils to be cultivated, and is frequently identified as the narcissus of ancient times (although Narcissus tazetta and Narcissus jonquilla have also been considered as possibilities).

It is also often associated with the Greek legend of : Amaryllidaceae. Narcissus is a genus of predominantly spring flowering perennial plants of the amaryllis family, Amaryllidaceae. Various common names including daffodil, narcissus and jonquil are used to describe all or some members of the genus.

Narcissus has conspicuous flowers with six petal-like tepals surmounted by a cup- or trumpet-shaped corona. The flowers are generally white or yellow (also Clade: Tracheophytes.
